Choose Happiness

Ahh! I know, I know. I'm WAY late with this morning's blog. Ever go into a weekend having it totally planned out and then nothing goes as planned, everything takes twice as long as you expect it to, and by the end of it you are totally drained and don't know where the time went? Well, that pretty much sums it up.

But as crazy as it was,  parts of it were really amazing and really got me thinking...

Nothing like a 10-year high school reunion to really stop and make you think; think about where your life is, who is in it, the path you chose. Since seeing all those people (most of whom I haven't see since high school), I haven't stopped thinking about where my life has taken me these past 10 years.

In the past 10 years, I've been to college in Newport News, lived and worked in Arlington, started a business and moved back to my home town. I've loved and lost, and loved again, and lost again, but it lead me to the love of my life who has changed my life forever. I went to school, changed my major, graduated, and ended up starting a business not entirely related to my degree. I've met so many amazing people, some of whom have been become great, lifelong friends, and some I've lost a along the way. I've made tons of mistakes, hurt people along the way, taken others for granted, and been broken myself.

But I don't regret any of it. Every decision I've made, every person I've met, and every phase I've gone through made me who I am today. And while things may get crazy and stressful and sometimes cause me a lot of anxiety, at the end of the day, I am really happy; happy with who I am, happy with whom I have in my life and happy in what I am doing.

That's the BIGGEST thing I've learned over the years. You have to be happy, and you have to keep choosing happiness. That's what life is about. If you're not happy with anything, what's the point? I'm not saying it has to be 'sunshine and rainbows, everything is perfect, I'm happy 100% of the time.' That's not life. Life is messy and complicated. But overall, follow your heart wherever it takes you and do the things that make you happy. It changes everything.

One last thing, oh so lucky for me, some of my friends kept these amazing invitations that I created in high school; complete with amazing fonts, pix-elated clip-art and just all around awesomeness. I really think I should bring this style back.... ;)
