Happy Wedding Wednesday!

I am SO excited to share this beautiful wedding with you today. Meet Ericka and Tim! They got married at Potomac Point Winery in October. And the wonderful Terri Baskin photographed it. I LOVED working with Ericka. By the time we were done, I felt like I had known her forever. She was just awesome, and what I would consider my ideal client: laid back yet serious, dog lover, good sense of humor, and go with the flow.

In all the years I've been doing invitations and running a small business, I can count on one hand how many times I've missed or forgotten about a meeting. I'm usually pretty good about it. Well, the morning I was supposed to have my first meeting with Ericka, I completely forgot. I was on autopilot. I got up, went to the gym and was just doing my thing when Joe called saying that someone was knocking on the door and waiting outside for me. Good thing the gym is less than 5 minutes from my house, so I raced home. I jumped outta my car praising the Lord that she was still there, and apologized profusely. This could have been a deal break for some people or some brides, and I would have totally understood. It was completely my fault. But she laughed said it was no big deal and came right in and we had our meeting while I was still dressed in my workout clothes, no make up, messy hair, and that's when I knew she was just awesome. We're all human, and we all make mistakes; but that kindness and grace she showed me just really spoke about who she was.

Designing her invitations was so much fun. We incorporated the winery theme throughout using vines and burgundy colors and some forest greens. And she also wanted a watercolor map for her guests featuring the winery, hotels, the Marine Corps Museum (her now husband is a Marine!) and even her sweet pup.

One of the other reasons Ericka and I clicked so well was because of our love for our dogs. She loved on Grohl the moment she walked in and we spent the first 5 minutes...well, maybe 10...showing dog photos and talking about our dogs. Sadly, while we were finishing up her invitations, I got a text early one morning from Ericka that her dog had suddenly gotten sick and passed away in less than 24 hours. Obviously, she was devastated. It broke my heart. I had to drop something off to her later that week, and couldn't wait to give her a big hug because I just felt so much for her.

Even though it was so sad, she made the best of it! We kept her pup on the watercolor map and she had a tribute to her at the wedding (see the photo below!). Ericka kept moving forward while still remembering her sweet pup.

Her wedding was gorgeous and I was so excited to be a small part of it. I helped with the wine themed table markers and the popcorn stickers for the day of. I was so excited to get these photos back and see all the love and joy Ericka experienced that day after such a heart break.
