The Yellow Umbrella

Last weekend, I went down to Richmond to see some girlfriends from college. It had been a LONG time since we had all gotten together to catch up and while we meant to have a whole spa day, we ended up sitting on the couch talking for 5+ hours before going to dinner catching up on all of the things going on in our lives. It was really nice, and some much needed girl time.

We stayed at my friend Maggie's house (it's gorgeous and so grown-up, I love it!). Up in the guest room, she had this awesome print on the bedside table of a yellow umbrella and it said 'Right Place, Right Time' based on the How I Met Your Mother TV Show, which is one of my favorite shows. I absolutely LOVED the print and since I'm still on a decorating kick for our new house, I wanted to make one for our house.

I started working on it, and ended up creating two different prints. I posted them to Instagram yesterday and am BLOWN AWAY by the response (thank you SO MUCH!), so I decided to sell them in my Etsy store. There are two different prints: the Full Quote and the Umbrella Skyline.

The Full Quote includes the entire quote from How I Met Your Mother:

Never forget that on any day, you can step out the front door and your whole life can change forever. You see, the universe has a plan kids, and that plan is always in motion. A butterfly flaps its wings, and it starts to rain. It's a scary thought but it's also kind of wonderful. All these little parts of the machine constantly working, making sure that you end up exactly where you're supposed to be, exactly when you're supposed to be there. The right place at the right time.

The Umbrella Skyline has just the umbrella, but at the bottom of the umbrella, there is a skyline. The one in all of the photos if the Fredericksburg, Virginia skyline because that's where Joey & I met and fell in love.

These prints are also customizable. I have a few other skylines available as well, or can create any other skylines you'd like. And I can add names or dates.

The Right Place, Right Time means so much to Joey and I, and I know it strikes a chord with so many others out there. It makes me smile every time I see it now. On Monday, I will be posting the first blog of the series about Joey's amputation. Honestly, it's been really hard to put the words down on paper! Part of it is I don't really know where to start and I don't really know what to talk about. There is so much that goes into it, I don't really know where to begin. But on Monday, I will make myself and we will begin the journey.
