Johnna & Joey Day

We have such great friends. I can't take credit for 'Joe & Johnna Day.' That was all Ellie.

It's so crazy to me that it's been two years. Yup! TWO. YEARS. Since we started dating. It both feels like it's flown by but I also can't imagine a time without having him around. He's my best friend; my partner in crime; my fellow goofball.

I know I posted this on Facebook yesterday, but SO much has happened these past 2 years: we checked off over 10 things on our bucket lists, we have 7 legs and paws left, we're living in our 3rd (and best!) house, been through 3 surgeries at 2 hospitals, and have the sweetest, goofiest, littlest (well, really not so little anymore) 70lb pup. And after going through all of this, we're still here...we're still standing.

Especially Joe.

Last night, we had big plans to go out and have a nice dinner. But instead, we ended up picking up food from our favorite restaurant, eating on the floor of our living room and then spending the night in our front yard with Mr. Grohly Poly overlooking the river, having a drink and sharing a cigar. At one point, I got to just sit out there and watch Joe run around in the yard with the pup; throw him bones and chase after him.

To most, this may not seem like much, but to me...these are the moments I've been dreaming about for months. This is the type of moment that makes all of those struggles worth it.

For so long, Joe could barely walk on his prosthetic leg. And now, he's not only walking, but he's running, playing rugby and finally able to hold my hand when we walk together. And when I sit and see how far we've come, I can't help but just live in the moment and love every second.

So much has happened in these past two years: good and bad, but mostly real. It's been a rough few months with the surgery, being on crutches for so long, and then working to get a new, well-fitting prosthetic. But overall, we have each other. And at the end of the day, that's all that matters to us. We're so lucky in that we've both grown so much as individuals, but also as a couple. Relationships take a lot of work and communication. And it's so easy to grow apart...especially in the hardships.

So, Happy Joe & Johnna Day!

As much as I absolutely LOVE our beautiful photoshoot photos like the one above, here are our real-life photos that more accurately portray us.
